William Southerland, Ph.D.
Creative Director

Dr. William Southerland is the creative director of VirtualChorus.net. Willam has over 20 years of experience with audio and video engineering for choruses. He has extensive experience working with music organizations doing virtual productions from all across the United States. Under his direction, VirtualChorus.net has produced dozens of studio-quality recordings for clients ranging from community choruses to opera companies.

William also works as Artistic Director for Windy City Performing Arts, Chicago’s premiere LGBTQ+ choral music organization. William holds a Ph.D. in music education and Master of Music in Choral Conducting degrees from UNC Greensboro, and a Bachelor of Music from Florida State University. William serves as Community Chorus R&R Chair and board member of the NC chapter of ACDA, the editorial board of the Music Educators Journal, and works as the Community Engagement 411 Advisor and New Harmony Task Force committee member for GALA Choruses. William has had his music arrangements performed by many choruses and is a frequent clinician for honor choirs throughout the area.
